Barré Properties, REALTORS®, is a member of the National Association of REALTORS®, Arizona REALTORS® and Scottsdale REALTORS®. That membership isn't a logo. It's a written promise, enforced by our peers, to put our clients first and to deal honestly with everyone at the table.
An Arizona real estate license sets the legal minimum. REALTOR® is different. It's a registered trademark that only members of the National Association of REALTORS® may use, and every member agrees to follow the REALTOR® Code of Ethics. Many of its duties go further than the law requires.
For an owner handing us a home, or a tenant trusting us with a deposit, that difference is practical. The Code covers how we handle your money, what we put in writing, what we disclose and how we treat the people on the other side of a deal. A REALTOR® who breaks it answers to a professional standards hearing, not just a licensing board.
NAR adopted the Code in 1913, one of the first ethics codes adopted by any business group in the country. It's reviewed and updated every year, and every REALTOR® is bound by the current edition.

Rents and deposits go into a dedicated trust account, never mixed with ours. Monthly statements show every dollar in and out, with the invoice behind each expense.
Agreements go on the Arizona REALTORS® standard forms wherever one exists. Every party gets a copy, and nothing important rests on a handshake.
Our rental analyses tell owners what the market supports, even when it isn't the number they hoped for. A number that sounds good but won't rent the home doesn't help you.
Written screening criteria, applied the same way to everyone, under the Fair Housing Act and Arizona law.
We cooperate with other brokers on every lease and sale, and we settle compensation in writing before the first showing, not at closing.
When a question needs an attorney, a CPA or a licensed contractor, we say so and refer you to one, rather than guessing.
Our primary membership is with Scottsdale REALTORS®, the local association for Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Carefree, Cave Creek and the Northeast Valley. Founded in 1963, it's one of the three owners of the Arizona Regional Multiple Listing Service (ARMLS). It also runs the local professional standards process, where ethics complaints are heard and disputes are arbitrated.
Membership comes in three levels: Scottsdale REALTORS® locally, Arizona REALTORS® statewide and the National Association of REALTORS® nationally. Through all three we have the standard Arizona forms, legal updates, market data and ongoing education.
We'd rather you understand the decision than just sign the paperwork. That's why we publish our fees in plain numbers, write market guides for every city we serve and explain up front who we represent in a transaction. Clients get the same honest answer whether or not they hire us.
Every REALTOR® completes Code of Ethics training on a three-year cycle, on top of the continuing education Arizona requires for every license renewal. If you ever have a concern about any REALTOR®'s conduct, including ours, the local association offers an ombudsman and a formal professional standards process. We think you should know that.
